All Pretty Pushers delivery gowns are 100% pure cotton; dyed and printed with water-based substances. They are meant to be worn, disposed of, and not have hot water and harsh chemicals wasted on cleaning them. This is a smart option to other designer delivery gowns which cost too much to be 'disposable', yet really what else can be done with a messy gown that's just gone through labor...be washed by the hospital staff? Bagged up and taken home 2 days later? Not a chance! The Pretty Pushers gown is an easy, inexpensive alternative!
And the best aspect of the Pretty Pushers delivery gown is the openings in all the right places! Many modern labors involve epidurals, monitors, and other IV cords. Women are left disappointed by the traditional labor gowns which allow for none of the above! We have heard countless stories of the frustration of having to pull those traditional gowns up, down, and from side to side just to suit all of the connections.
The Pretty Pushers gown was designed with a completely open upper-back (halter neck), and low-cut for epidural access. Additionally, there is an opening (with tie closure) at the front of the gown for both the baby's monitor and the mother's monitor, if needed. All Pretty Pushers delivery gowns are disposable. They were designed with as few seams as possible and unfinished edges for a fast breakdown in landfills. We think that a bit of cotton in the ground is much less harmful to the environment than the millions of gallons of hot water and harsh chemicals used in hospital laundry rooms daily. HOWEVER, in this case, 'disposable' does not sacrifice quality. These garments are still constructed from premium grade American cotton, and because they are a jersey knit, a few runs through the wash will not cause them to disintegrate! Many of our customers have said that they've washed and re-worn their gowns for sleeping or nursing.
